The Oldest: Connor is my twelve-year-old son. He is my first born, and is now in middle school. He loves math, science, and engineering. He can also solve a 3x3 Rubix cube in less than 30 seconds. He knows some Python coding, and enjoys developing with his dad in his free time.
The Middle: Kyle is our athlete. Kyle is ten-years-old and in 5th grade, and is entering playoff-season in his third year on D1 tackle football with the DFW Hawks. Kyle is very creative and loves to make customized graphics on the computer.
The Youngest: Logan, If I only could have half as much energy as this kid, I'd be living life large. Logan is a high-energy, multi-talented six-year-old with a wide array of interest. His current interests are golf (yes, real gold with clubs.), and beat-boxing.
Despite the challenges of my visual impairment, I have always made it a priority to enjoy life. I believe we are called to fill our lives with learning and growth, and I strive to incorporate this into my hobbies as well.
- Rollerskating: My three children and I love visiting the roller rink for rollerblading and roller skating. We try to go on less busy days to make it more "low vision" friendly, but it’s always a great time!
- Bike Riding: Before I began losing my vision in my late teenage years, I loved bike riding. Even now, I still enjoy biking, though I stick close to my comfort zone. I typically ride during daylight hours and only on familiar routes with others.
- Camping: I have grown to love the outdoors as a boy mom. I grew up with only sisters, and was the most girlie girl of the bunch. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine loving camping, and so many other outdoor activities.
- Football Mom: I am also my middle son's biggest cheerleader! This is his third year playing tackle football on a Division 1 team. This year, he has taken on an 'Iron man' position, playing both offense and defense.
